Professional Member Upgrade Verification Instructions

DO NOT PANIC-THIS IS EASY! (Panicking is not an option!)

To upgrade your membership, you must document that you meet any one of these three options:

Option One:

Have you received monetary payment for at least 20 presentations within the last 12 months?

If so, you are qualified! Send in supporting documentation now!

Supporting documentation for Option One can be any of the following: contracts, paid invoices, check copies and tax returns showing speaking income. Written testimonials are not an acceptable form of supporting documention.

Option One Instructions:

  • Fill out the chart on the attached Presentation Verification Form.
  • Attach copies of any contracts, paid invoices, check copies and tax returns showing speaking income.
  • Number your copies to match the line number used on the chart.

Option Two:

Have you given at least 20 presentations to audiences of 15 or more as part of a salaried position within the last 12 months? If so, you are qualified! Send in supporting documentation now!

Supporting documentation for Option Two is a letter from your employer indicating professional speaking presentations that you have given in the last 12 months.


Please use this Word Document template when submitting documentation. Using this template will help you and your supervisor to provide key information when submitting a letter.

Option Two Instructions:

Send in your letter written by your employer. Send with application to NSA/Membership/1500 S Priest Dr/Tempe/AZ 85281.

Option Three:

Have you made at least $25,000 giving presentations during the last 12 months? If so, you are qualified! Send in supporting documentation now!

Supporting documentation for Option Three can be any of the following: contracts, paid invoices, check copies and tax returns showing speaking income. Written testimonials are not an acceptable form of supporting documention.

Option Three Instructions:

  • Fill out the chart on the attached Presentation Verification Form.
  • Attach copies of any contracts, paid invoices, check copies and tax returns showing speaking income. Written testimonials are not an acceptable form of supporting documention.

  • Number your copies to match the line number used on the chart.

Remember: You only have to meet ONE of these options to qualify.

Some important points to remember:

  • After 2003, if you do not fit into one of the categories above, you can participate in most of NSA's programs at non-member rates, but can not be, or present yourself as a member of NSA.
  • Joining a Chapter does not make you a member of the National Speakers Association--you must apply and join NSA separately.

You only have to submit qualification documents and forms once. Once you have been accepted as a professional member, you only need to meet the qualifications and renew your dues each year.
