I have been a caregiver for my aging parents for 17 years. My husband and I have 3 out of 4 parents who either suffer with, or have died from, some form of dementia. I have volunteered for the Alzheimer's Association since 1997 as a patient advocate on Capitol Hill. For many years I facilitated an Alzheimer's Support Group in Northern Virginia. I currently serve as the Ambassador to Senator Mark Warner's office for the implementation of the National Alzheimer's Project Act (NAPA).
In my professional life, I am the Co-founder of Connected Health Resources and CEO of Sterling Health IT Consulting, spearheading innovative new projects to improve how patients and family caregivers navigate the healthcare system. I serve on the ONC Health IT Policy Committee's Consumer Empowerment Workgroup and the Patient Generated Health Data Technical Expert Panel and recently served as Executive in Residence for the HIMSS Foundation, Institute for e-Health Policy.
