Mike Scott is a 40-year specialist in health care communications with a degree in biochemistry and extensive experience in the worlds of health care marketing, medical education, and patient advocacy, most particularly related to various forms of cancer and rare disorders. He is also a happy survivor of an acute myocardial infarct (a sudden onset heart attack).
Mike is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) and also a member of the boards of directors of the International Myeloma Foundation (IMF), and Prostate Cancer International. He is a lifetime member of the Society for Participatory Medicine (SPM), and a member of several professional health care organizations, including the American Society for Hematology (ASH), the American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Drug Information Association (DIA), and the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA). He is also a principal of Vox Medica, Inc. -- an independent, specialized, health care communications group of companies.
